We’ve been getting a lot of questions about how to help out with our movement. If that’s what you’re looking for, read on!
Nieuwe Universiteit / New University Utrecht has only recently really taken off. Founded over the summer of 2018, we’re still really focused on building the base of our movement. Awareness! Spreading the word about both the budget cuts and our own movement.
That said, we have also getting our hands dirty. We’ve done a few banner drops, made some noise, given public speeches and we have written one or two opinion pieces in the media.
Right now we’re gearing up for some more events in the coming months. Demonstrations in The Hague are coming up, just like some events of our own.
But, what is to be done for you? Well, first of all, we have a meeting, every Tuesday night at 19:30. It’s mostly at Drift 27 but exact locations/rooms may vary.
We also have a whatsapp group to keep everyone posted about what happens. If you want to be added to that, send us an email!
We have three task forces for all our organising which are always open for new people:
- Media: for all things related to Facebook, the website, the media and design of logo’s, posters and stickers.
- Community: for engaging with the wider public. Flyering, talking to students, teachers but also other allies like WOinActie and student movements in other cities.
- Action: the most hands-on it will get. Painting banners, doing the logistics of actions and getting materials to locations are just a few.
That said, these task forces are pretty fluid and form a general guideline for our organisation, nothing too strict. But still, if you really want to get involved, these task forces are where it’s at. Again, send us an email if you want to be added to them!
